Week 22 Review

Danni is lying in bed with a small smile. The image is tinted purple from the light. Johan is much better at taking photos than I am. Purple light isn’t really that great for selfies. I have stolen his t-shirt though, which makes a change from him stealing mine (the hamster and penguin do a fusion dance and turn into a porg lower down the t-shirt image).

Mostly been a sleepy week. It took a couple of days for the side effects from the extra medication to ease off, but it wasn’t too bad. I was up all through Monday night/Tuesday morning but was pretty productive during that time, updating my care instruction book and started work on a series of blog posts I’m hoping to get done soonish.

Tuesday Johan went to Sammie’s to see if we could stabilise her internet connection. Living in the middle of nowhere there isn’t much we could do about the slow speed but swapping from wifi to powerline adapters seems to have help stop it constantly disconnecting. I helped by buying them πŸ˜› Once I did get to sleep I slept through until Wednesday evening, with small enough antinaps they’re not showing on my tracker.

Not listened to much Welcome to Night Vale as Johan wanted to catch up. He’s now ahead of me but only by a couple so hopefully I’ll catch up to him soon. I did listen to part of a Hello Internet episode but they’re too long for me at the moment (and I didn’t find a transcript so other than there being a zoo, penguins and Star Wars involved I don’t really know what was going on).

Other than sleeping, being very sleepy and working on future blog posts and some spreadsheets, it’s been a pretty quiet week. Was a little bit grumpy on Saturday as I felt well enough for a shower for the first time all year, but Johan wasn’t up to giving me one. I had a wipe wash in bed but it’s not the same (and due to various reasons mostly around not coping with care workers, more painful than the shower would have been). I cheered up by the time I filled my diary in though.

Still waiting on my wheelchair being fixed. Johan says the replacement parts have been ordered, but not heard from them yet so will be prodding him to chase them up soon. I’m wanting to have it back for my birthday – though as the last time I was out of bed on my actual birthday was 2011, I’m not sure how realistic using it is then is. I’m hopeful though and don’t have any big events I need to rest for like some other years.

I’ve decided to start tracking my symptom levels along with my mood, as otherwise it’s just a lot of goods which isn’t very informative (other than now knowing I mostly have good days moodwise). Only figured out I could do that this morning though so it won’t be recorded below until next week’s blog post. I’m glad to get it done on time this week.

  • Overall mood – Good
  • Average daily sleep – 10 hours 51 minutes
  • Longest sleep – 24 hours 13 minutes from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening (deep sleep not recorded due to user error)
  • Clothes changed – 1 (Johan’s penguin + hamster = porg t-shirt, and cat fleece top)
  • Wipe wash – 1
  • Water wash – 0
  • Hair wash – 0, but did get head wiped during the wipe wash
  • Books read – 0 (I need to remind myself I want to finish this book)
  • TV watched – 0
  • YouTube videos watched – 0
  • Streams watched – 0
  • Music listened to – 0
  • Podcasts listened to – Welcome to Night Vale (Episodes 31-32), Hello Internet (part of episode 37)
  • Blog posts written – 1 (though worked on another)
  • Penguins cuddled –  Lots of cuddles 🐧🐧🐧
  • Johan hand holds – Plenty
  • Johan hugs – 0
  • Time on Twitter – 3 hours 33 minutes (average 30 minutes a day)
  • Time on Reddit – 21 hours 13 minutes (average 3 hours 1 minute a day)
  • Time on Facebook – 19 minutes (average 2 minutes a day)
  • Other –
    • Sleeping a lot makes it harder to do stuff. As does being too tired to do much.
    • Definitely think the weather has a big impact on how I feel. When it’s warmer outside I’m in less pain and often feel better overall. If I’m not asleep.
    • My hips are complaining a lot about how much sleep I’m getting. Although the alternating air mattress helps a bit, they still don’t like the pressure after a few hours, and the 90 minutes or so of lying on the other one isn’t a long enough break.

Game stuff

  • Games played – 6
    • Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
    • Cross Stitch
    • DragonVale
    • Neko Atsume
    • Godville

  • Godville Heroine Level – 54 (38% done)
  • Godville wood for ark – 24.4%
  • Godville savings –  1 million, 9 thousand (yay!)
  • Cross stitch completed – 1
  • Most played game –  Animal Crossing Pocket Camp (12 hours 27 minutes, average 1 hour 46 minutes a day)
  • Other –
    • New Animal Crossing flower event – collecting Bumblecubes (cubed bees)
    • Seems a bit harder to get the rarer bees this time for the first half
    • My to visit list in Animal Crossing has reached 25 people. I know one of them outside the game.
    • Happy to get my first million savings in Godville. Only 29 million left to go πŸ™‚

The End of NaBloPoMo

This is my 30th daily blog post for November, which means I’ve successfully completed NaBloPoMo. Some blog posts were pretty short, just a YouTube video and a few words, and others have been a bit longer. This month started with Autistics Speaking Day, and finished with me being housebound because of the snow. In between were lots of posts about college (especially missing it quite a lot because of illness and snow). I cut down my hours at college near the beginning of the month, sorted out a problem with support on a Wednesday, and overdid it a lot, meaning I was firmly in a boom and bust cycle of ME. I played a lot of World of Warcraft, was discharged from the mental health service, got sucked into TV Tropes for over a week, bought a new hoody (that has been worn more days than not), and spent most of the month in severe, chronic pain that my painkillers don’t come close to touching.

I also met a couple of the stars from one of my favourite shows from my childhood, caught (and mostly got over) a cold, took part in a big launch event for an online film, played Quasar Laser in my wheelchair, and rewatched season 1 of Dollhouse. My mood dipped a bit for a few days while I struggled to cope with a worsening in pain, but has mostly improved now, possibly with the enforced rest the snow has given me.

Overall, a rather mixed month. Today again I was stuck indoors due to the snow, but tomorrow is the Christmas meal and cinema trip with my tutor group, which I will be going to even if I need to get a taxi to go there. I will be attempting to go to college in the morning, but will need to see based on what the weather is, what the buses are doing and what the roads and pavements are like near here. We do have a plan that involves pulling my wheelchair backwards in the snow, as the bigger wheels should mean it works better.

I shall try to keep blogging daily, or near daily, but I won’t put myself under the pressure I did this month. At least there won’t be any more panicked blog posts just before midnight because I’d forgotten earlier in the day πŸ™‚

Meeting the Stars

Woo! What a day. This morning I slept, because of yesterday mostly. This afternoon we went over to a different hotel for the big Prisoner (Cell Block H) event. First was Retrospectively, Rita where Glenda Linscott showed how talented she is by acting out bits from various things she’s been in, ending with a short film about a real life story of how a woman got HIV from her husband (go to http://www.audaciousdreaming.com/ to find out more and donate). She even managed a convincing Scouse accent for one of them (it’s better than mine, and I only lived there for 16 years…). It was really enjoyable.

Next we went to the lobby bar for a bit while they set up the next part. During this time I was in a lot of pain and extremely tired, so was struggling a bit, but I don’t think I showed too much (actually, all day I was exhausted and in a lot of pain, and ended up losing it before the event started, but I think it was okay). When we went back up they’d set up all the tables for dinner, and both Glenda and Maggie Kirkpatrick came out. There were clips from Prisoner with them both, questions being asked, then they both commentated on an episode of Prisoner (692, or the last episode). This was enjoyable, and also funny when they were reminiscing about what was going on (plus Maggie had never seen the episode, even though it was mostly about her, which was also amusing).

After this everyone got their photo taken with them. They came to me at the end of this (I was in my wheelchair, and there was no way I was going to be able to walk to the front as my legs aren’t behaving today) and were really nice, even though by this point I could barely speak (noise, pain, people, exhaustion, and being overwhelmed didn’t help :P). I even managed to smile when they were being all tactile and and having their arms around me for the photos, even though it was very difficult for me. I think it was worth it.
HI
After the photos, it was time for food. All very nice, though I didn’t get dessert as there was none left by the time I was ready for it (the only really bad thing of the event), and for a while Glenda sat at our table and chatted to us. Maggie was also floating around. There were clips of Maggie on the projector while we ate, which was interesting. After the food Maggie and Glenda signed autographs, and I now own a couple of signed photos πŸ™‚ My mum went up as it would have been awkward me trying to get there, but I watched things for a bit, and also chatted to Johan on Google Talk, which helped calm me down.

Next there was some footage shown of when Sammy Davis Jr. visited the Prisoner set, which was from Maggie’s collection (non labeled, some on Betamax). This was interesting to watch. Next was the charity auction, and my mum won a couple of photos (including a big signed one of the two stars that she was determined to win). The last thing were the thanks, and a song.

After that we left to go back to the hotel. Maggie came out while we were waiting for the taxi, said goodbye to us (she remembered my name :P) and waited for her taxi, and tried to steal ours at one point πŸ˜› We came back and now I’m in bed, finishing this off and about to go to sleep. It was a great day and I really enjoyed it.
