Week 22 Review

Danni is lying in bed with a small smile. The image is tinted purple from the light. Johan is much better at taking photos than I am. Purple light isn’t really that great for selfies. I have stolen his t-shirt though, which makes a change from him stealing mine (the hamster and penguin do a fusion dance and turn into a porg lower down the t-shirt image).

Mostly been a sleepy week. It took a couple of days for the side effects from the extra medication to ease off, but it wasn’t too bad. I was up all through Monday night/Tuesday morning but was pretty productive during that time, updating my care instruction book and started work on a series of blog posts I’m hoping to get done soonish.

Tuesday Johan went to Sammie’s to see if we could stabilise her internet connection. Living in the middle of nowhere there isn’t much we could do about the slow speed but swapping from wifi to powerline adapters seems to have help stop it constantly disconnecting. I helped by buying them πŸ˜› Once I did get to sleep I slept through until Wednesday evening, with small enough antinaps they’re not showing on my tracker.

Not listened to much Welcome to Night Vale as Johan wanted to catch up. He’s now ahead of me but only by a couple so hopefully I’ll catch up to him soon. I did listen to part of a Hello Internet episode but they’re too long for me at the moment (and I didn’t find a transcript so other than there being a zoo, penguins and Star Wars involved I don’t really know what was going on).

Other than sleeping, being very sleepy and working on future blog posts and some spreadsheets, it’s been a pretty quiet week. Was a little bit grumpy on Saturday as I felt well enough for a shower for the first time all year, but Johan wasn’t up to giving me one. I had a wipe wash in bed but it’s not the same (and due to various reasons mostly around not coping with care workers, more painful than the shower would have been). I cheered up by the time I filled my diary in though.

Still waiting on my wheelchair being fixed. Johan says the replacement parts have been ordered, but not heard from them yet so will be prodding him to chase them up soon. I’m wanting to have it back for my birthday – though as the last time I was out of bed on my actual birthday was 2011, I’m not sure how realistic using it is then is. I’m hopeful though and don’t have any big events I need to rest for like some other years.

I’ve decided to start tracking my symptom levels along with my mood, as otherwise it’s just a lot of goods which isn’t very informative (other than now knowing I mostly have good days moodwise). Only figured out I could do that this morning though so it won’t be recorded below until next week’s blog post. I’m glad to get it done on time this week.

  • Overall mood – Good
  • Average daily sleep – 10 hours 51 minutes
  • Longest sleep – 24 hours 13 minutes from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening (deep sleep not recorded due to user error)
  • Clothes changed – 1 (Johan’s penguin + hamster = porg t-shirt, and cat fleece top)
  • Wipe wash – 1
  • Water wash – 0
  • Hair wash – 0, but did get head wiped during the wipe wash
  • Books read – 0 (I need to remind myself I want to finish this book)
  • TV watched – 0
  • YouTube videos watched – 0
  • Streams watched – 0
  • Music listened to – 0
  • Podcasts listened to – Welcome to Night Vale (Episodes 31-32), Hello Internet (part of episode 37)
  • Blog posts written – 1 (though worked on another)
  • Penguins cuddled –  Lots of cuddles 🐧🐧🐧
  • Johan hand holds – Plenty
  • Johan hugs – 0
  • Time on Twitter – 3 hours 33 minutes (average 30 minutes a day)
  • Time on Reddit – 21 hours 13 minutes (average 3 hours 1 minute a day)
  • Time on Facebook – 19 minutes (average 2 minutes a day)
  • Other –
    • Sleeping a lot makes it harder to do stuff. As does being too tired to do much.
    • Definitely think the weather has a big impact on how I feel. When it’s warmer outside I’m in less pain and often feel better overall. If I’m not asleep.
    • My hips are complaining a lot about how much sleep I’m getting. Although the alternating air mattress helps a bit, they still don’t like the pressure after a few hours, and the 90 minutes or so of lying on the other one isn’t a long enough break.

  • Games played – 6

    • Happy to get my first million savings in Godville. Only 29 million left to go πŸ™‚

Patch 4.3

Today has been a World of Warcraft day. I have spent far too much time sitting at my computer playing that game. The reason for this is today patch 4.3 – Hour of Twilight was released. To people who now have no clue what I’m talking about, this means there’s lots of new stuff to do in the game that there wasn’t yesterday.

The first thing I did was get Danni sorted with some nice gear. I decided that until I get around to farming a proper pretty set of armour, I was going to wear Black Mageweave (I am a tailor so made it myself), which is less pretty and more sexy. Up to now I’ve not seen anyone else wearing it, so that is good.

I then started dumping most of my old gear from my bank into void storage. And got angry because some of the items weren’t allowed in, for vague reasons. Like my Ashen Verdict ring that I kept from Ice Crown Citadel. I managed to dump quite a bit in there though, and that meant I could dump stuff from my bags into my bank, so now I can actually use my bags again. This is good.

After a long rest, I went back on to do the new 5 man dungeons. We got a mostly guild group together, and had a pug mage from a different realm who was awesome and gave me cookies. The new dungeons were a bit challenging but not too hard, and were tons of fun. I did sit up for too long so I could complete them all (we had a few wipes while learning what to do and with me occasionally failing) but it was worth it. The individual dungeons are short enough that if I’m having a good day I should be able to run them, so that’s awesome.

There’s also a new raid, but I’m not geared enough or well enough to try that yet. Maybe when I improve a bit.

Johan went out today to the MetroCentre. Apparently it was packed. This may have had something to do with a strike that was going on, that meant most of the schools were closed, among other places. He didn’t really buy anything that I saw, but did use his mobile phone to buy a McDonalds on the way home, paid for by Google. That was cool, though I want a McDonalds and can’t have one because the bus drivers won’t let Johan carry one on for me πŸ™

I am now hungry. I have to wait for Johan to complete a dungeon before he can even start cooking. This means I’ll have to stay up late. I’m not particularly happy about this. At least I can watch Penguins in the meantime.

Feeling Weird

Slept from 12.30am – 2.30pmish today. Johan was sitting on the windowsill when I woke up, waiting for his graphics card to arrive. It did so just before 6pm.

I’m doing my own, very vague method of activity management. It basically consists of trying to get up and sit in my computer chair every day, no matter how ill I feel. I’ve managed it every day for a while now, and it’s not making me worse, just means I sleep more. I try and get back off before I start feeling even more bleh, but it means I get to play some World of Warcraft everyday. I made my Worgan Mage Elisaveta into a Gnome called Tiarna. She’s so small and cute, and best of all she doesn’t make any annoying sniffing noises πŸ˜€

I feel weird. The nausea has been worse today, so I’ve been taking the antisickness tablets, which haven’t helped much. My brain has been all over the place, and the pain has been bad even with the painkillers. I “lost” a few hours after waking up just because I felt too rotten to move.

I’ve ordered some stuff from Amazon to be delivered tomorrow, and done a grocery shop with Sainsburys to be delivered on Wednesday. Nothing too amazing, though we have three different types of roast-style meats to try (they were 3 for Β£10). They also do pre-prepared sweet potato and butternut squash, so when they arrive I’m getting Johan to make me my orange soup πŸ˜€

Did get dressed today, in my favourite Diablo 3 t-shirt and a denim skirt. Johan plaited my hair. It’s very loose as he’s not got the hang of keeping hold of all the hair while plaiting it, but it’s not too bad and he’s learning πŸ™‚

Project 365: Day 67: 27th August 2011 – Katie and Penguin

Katie and Penguin

Today Johan wasn’t in, so Martin looked after me. He did well, except for the trying to break my toes when he was pushing me in the wheelchair :p

Today has been another lazy day. Played World of Warcraft, The Sims Social when it would work (it’s not again now), tried to read a book but didn’t have the concentration  so read a magazine instead. Also watched Doctor Who and ordered a new wheelchair. New wheelchair is the same as the old wheelchair, just less broken.

It’s been fun having Martin here, and he’s staying overnight as he can’t be bothered to get two buses home. Johan got back around 9pm, and he said he enjoyed his day out. Now I am the sleepies so will be turning laptop off and going to sleep.

Project 365: Day 66: 26th August 2011 – Martin

Martin

A wild Martin appears!

Slept in today, until 1pm. I needed it to catch up with the lack of sleep recently. Was very groggy all day, and wasn’t well enough for a bath when favourite carer came this evening, but she did some tidying instead.

My brother arrived while favourite carer was here. He’s staying overnight, then here tomorrow to Danni-sit me while Johan goes off to Manchester. I was meant to be going with him, but I’m not well enough to travel that sort of distance at the moment.

Spent the time I’ve been awake doing pretty much nothing on the laptop, resting, then a short period on my desktop computer playing World of Warcraft on the US realms.

Tomorrow, I hope to get dressed πŸ˜›
